Hi,

I wanted to go for a broadband connection. I stay at Andheri, Mumbai. I would really love to have an unlimited plan, and I
am ready to pay around 1000 pm. Even 128 kbps will do since net will be used for gaming and heavy downloading.

Can anyone help me with this?

Broadband in Delhi

My experience with Broadband in Delhi….I share the same experiences with everyone for Hathway, Sify, VSNL (Tata Internet Broadband). None of these is reliable. What is lacking is that they all ride on a very weak and unreliable last mile (which means the line which brings the connection to your home/office), whereas their network uses the more reliable Wireless or Fiber optics network from the service provider to their POPs in different territories. Airtel has a much better underground last mile but they take a long time to rectify the problem, but the failure frequency is normally low. What we require is the ISPs provide the last mile only through WiFi (hot spots) in your areas, or use copper on fiber optics , with so much fiber laid across Delhi and capacity being unused!!. The problem needs to be addressed by the ISP Association ISAPI and DOT (which has done a great thing by regulating tarriffs and bringing down the cost of Broadband, but not much to regulate the Quality of service which they lay down in writing in the SLAs . Again a question of good intention and poor planning and even poorer implementation. Till that time, we will go on suffering like this, and soon consumer forums will be full of complaints from harrassed ISP customers.I hope that ISPAI and ISPs and DOT is listening.

Which service provider will be the cheapest

After reading all these History’s of our Net providers, i am totally confused, whom to approach and who will give the better service. As i am planning to go for Net telephony. Which service provider will be the cheapest. Kindly advice.

MTNL broadband (Triband) in Mumbai, Andheri W

Hi,I have MTNL broadband (Triband) in Mumbai, Andheri W. When the connection was launched, the speed was excellent and no service problems faced as such. Now, after around 6 months of usage, the speeds have fallen to around 12Kbps. As far as I am aware it would not even qualify to be called broadband. On lodging a complaint, the reply given is that my flat distance from the hub is a lot that is why the speeds are slow. (Although, from the time i have taken the connection, neither me nor the MTNL exchange has shifted).

Right to Information Act 2005

I have not used any of the broadband services but reading the comments i feel this should help.First of all as suggested in a previous comment submit written complaints.Second “Right to Information Act 2005? will be useful http://rti.gov.in/ . The indian express carries almost a daily series on it.

MTNL Triband broadband

Hi all,

I am using MTNL Triband broadband from one month and its like heaven.

I get a minimum download speed of 256Kbps (32KBps)which my service provider claims to be. Also i have no trouble of any kind.
Service is really good. Haven't tried Sify or Hotwire yet. My friend use TATA broadband and is satisfied with it.

Mail me for any clarification.

victim of MTNL luring offer for cheap broadband

i am a victim of MTNL luring offer for cheap broadband.i opted for MTNL broadband connection in THANE region. my bills for
last two months areexcessively high(approx.Rs4000/- Pm)inspite of limited use. there is no security and i suspect that my
line is tampered and also used by other party. i tried to change my password (given by MTNL)as guided on MTNL web site, it
was not permitted and repeated attempts failed. i lodged 2 complaints with MTNL but no response from them. now i have
decided to discontinue the triband from MTNL. THerefore before opting for MTNL connection think twice.

MTNL offeres diffrent plans for diffrent needs

I dont quite agree to this. MTNL offeres diffrent plans for diffrent needs and the one u r talkin abt is the barebones plan, The very fact that they billing on the basis of data shows the quality of service. (More data u get, the more u pay). That means if their net slows down they wont get money, unlike my local isp whose billing was time based but the speed was just above a dialup. its was so pathetic that i cant think of a decent expression to describe it. No thoughput only bills. I am using 700MB@Rs.399 of MTNL and its service is superb. it often crosses the 256kb/s mark (max 49KBPS)which is quite surprising!
