Indian Broadband Scenario:
Heh and i was sure i was not the only one. One and half ****ing month it has been and i am still waiting for my connection. Allright here is how it goes. Am an UNIX admin for an MNC in Bangalore. I have to stay oncall once every two weeks. So i NEED a connection at home. I had Airtel at my earlier place and i loved it (trust me the best ever ever and will be). Now after marriage i shifted to a new place (Jeevan Bhima Nagar) in Bangalore which is one of the best locations in the so called IT city. I looked out for Airtel - surprisingly there was NO Internet connection available at this place where a single bed room costs 10K per month. BSNL told me they will take 5 months to install it - wow India. SOmehow i got in touch with a Sify Broker who demanded 5000 Rs Nonrefundable for the connection. Allright my last hope was Tata Indicom. I contacted the guy there, who said they can install a switch and provide me the connection IF i can make my owner agree for installing a swtich at my place. I made my owner agree to it and then after struggling for 5 days the guy appeared to take the signature of my owner and he promised me the connection will be done within 7 days. Ok i was happy for a moment. 12 days and i was back from my honeymoon which was on 23rd April. After repeated phone calls i came to know they are upgrading their switch so that they can pull the connection directly instead of installing another switch at my place.
Again my waiting period started and then followed a series of phone calls and weird explanations like power cut, cable cut, router outage, satellite outage (nah just kidding) and i dont know what. Yesterday they came and pulled the cables till my place and now they need verification BUT BUT BUT BUT the line is not active now.
A different story follows - first of all they are verifying my house address AFTER fixing the cables. Right now after 12 calls to the verification dept (me calling them lol) am waiting for them to verify my address
Dont know how long this will go on till am able to see google on my home computer
