What is the present status in India

What is the present status in India? I beleive that there is tremendous growth in the subscriber base from the 4 million odd in Dec.03.
Is there a critical mass of subscriber which will usher in E commerce in India?
I read a news item today which says that the total tickets purchased from Railways web portal is doubling every year.

But the limit for mb wont help any broadband provider much.

Whats the use even if i get 1mbps line that hav data limit of 300mb? Pathetic to say that it wont help much. Dont get excted as u wud get depressed soon.
If they offer us unlimited pakage with no downtime and priced nearly Rs.1000 to 1500 would be a perfect deal for all and i will instantly take it. No second thought.
But in reality atelast in India this wont happen soon.

unfortunately tata sucks and airtel is not very wide spread..
reports of downtime with airtel are also goin around..
so if u want a stable connect.. go for bsnl..
wanna risk a lil.. go for airtel..
wanna blow money.. burn it..
if ur worried about the pollution.. then go for tata..

Does anyone know of internet service in India which offers at least 128 kbps (256 kbps preferred) of UPLOAD speed? If yes, is it available at Nagpur?

I have the laptop at home. I am looking up for a high speed broad band connection at a nominal rate. Could anybody suggest me which broadband i should go for? I have options with Sify/BSNL/Tata Indicom/any other.
